Womens fashion magazines are typically made to all look the same and only have very slight differences. For example, the majority of women used as the cover for these magazines are 'petite' and tanned as this is what women admire to be like.

The colour pink is typically used as this is seen as a feminine colour. Cosmopolitan is known for using the colour pink for the female models on the covers on their magazines. In particular the darker shade of pink as this shows attitude and confidence coming from the model. The colour used on different subheadings is important as they 

The name of the magazine is typically seen at the top of the cover either above or behind the models head as this is the first thing the audience will see as they read left to right and begin at the top. This also applies to the information they mention is included in the magazine. For example, the information the audience will be most interested in will be in a different font, colour or size as this is supposed to catch their eye and interest them more into buying the magazine. Many magazines doe require the name of the magazine to be in full view for the audience due to them being so well known and popular. 

In terms of colours used and backgrounds, editors try to make it appear as basic as possible as they don't want the background behind the model to be too distracting from the model themselves or the content they are trying to advertise on the front cover. This is why most magazines try and keep the background just one or two colours as this makes all the information appear more clear in comparison to how it would look on a more complicated background. 

The models which are commonly used on the cover are used to fit the typical stereotype of how people think a woman should look. This is clear as the women who are larger than usual, it is advertised as 'plus size' yet in comparison to skinnier women, they are not advertised as 'skinny'.
By completing this research I have gained the knowledge of what a typical magazine looks like, which therefore allows me to create my own magazine in order for i to look professional and include all the necessary requirements.
