Magazine Research

Fashion Magazine Womens fashion magazines are typically made to all look the same and only have very slight differences. For example, the majority of women used as the cover for these magazines are 'petite' and tanned as this is what women admire to be like. The colour pink is typically used as this is seen as a feminine colour. Cosmopolitan is known for using the colour pink for the female models on the covers on their magazines. In particular the darker shade of pink as this shows attitude and confidence coming from the model. The colour used on different subheadings is important as they  The name of the magazine is typically seen at the top of the cover either above or behind the models head as this is the first thing the audience will see as they read left to right and begin at the top. This also applies to the information they mention is included in the magazine. For example, the information the audience will be most interested in will be in a different font, colour...

Pre-Production Processes

Outline some of the main processes in the development and pre-production stage One of the main processes of development is the pre-visualisation stage. This is important for when the creators of the film takes the idea to a production company as this allows the production company to visualise what the film will look like. For example, the first Star Wars movie was taken to the production company with sketches of what some of the character and scenes would look like if it was made. Pre-visualisation is also important as the production company giving the creators the revenue for the film could possibly imagine the film looking different to how it was planned resulting in it possibly not being successful.  Also, storyboards are important to the pre-production of a film as it is a visual representation of the film script. Usually, storyboards are made from hand drawn sketches and hand written text in the margins.  The screenplay is also one of the most important parts to ...

Logistics Of Production

Logistics - the detailed organisation and implementation of a complex operation. Why is it important to budget and to pre-plan expenditure for a media production? It is important to pre-plan the budget and expenditure before the start of a media production due to the amount of different factors that are considered by film makers. One of the main things they need to think about is making a high budget film as this could be very risky to production companies and film companies as it is possible they may not make all that money back if the film isn't as popular as expected. In order to inform the cast and crew of where they need to be and when, film call sheets are issued a few days before needed in order to move on with the film as quickly as possible without any delays. However, if one of the cast members reads the wrong sheet for the wrong day, this could delay filming which would cost the film company more money, because of the delay, the company will have to rearrange all th...

Funding

Where does funding for the following come from? Films get financed in many different ways. For example, they get funding from private sources such as pre-sales. Pre-sales are made before the film is generally made/ released or available to purchase. The reliance on pre-sales shows the film industries dependence on movie stars, directors and certain film genres. Certain films only have a very low number of production company's supporting them such as the first Harry Potter (Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone). This shows how popular films such as this always have a main production company supporting them and other small company's. Franchises such as this only need minimal production companies funding them as it was obvious to the producers this particular film would be a success as Harry Potter is a very popular children's series of books by J.K. Rowling. The production companies supporting this are Warner Bros, Heyday Films and 1492 Pictures. Also, there are ve...
